Waka Flocka Flame Fires Shots At Gucci Mane on “Was My Dawg”

It looks as though the messy, years-long beef between Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame is still kind of raw: Waka very much appears to have dropped a Gucci diss track called “Was My Dawg.”

Though the track doesn’t actually mention him by name, its lyrics make its target kind of unmistakable, as they seem to refer to the pair’s Brick Squad roots and Guwop’s recent imprisonment (“Always yelling Brick Squad, always talking fam first/ When your ass got locked up, you turned on the fam first/ Always taking fucking credit, never put in no work.”) The cover art for the track also features a silhouette that isn’t a million miles away from Gucci’s own, but just in case there was even a glimmer of doubt about who he was talking about, Waka kindly tagged him in an Instagram post which features it, just to make sure everything was clear.

Appearing on Charlie Sloth’s BBC Radio 1Xtra Show on February 6, he discussed their beef (as you can see below), which started in 2012. He also questioned Gucci’s dedication to ATL, noting that since he got out of prison, he hadn’t shot a music video in east Atlanta. Harsh words, and ones that Guwop will no doubt respond to with rapidity.
