JAY-Z has been pulling out all stops for the cameos for his 4:44 visuals. There was Lupita Nyong’o in “MaNyfaCedGod,” Mahershala Ali in “Adnis,” and an all-black Friends remake for “Moonlight” starring Issa Rae and Jerrod Carmichael. But, even with 4:44’s star-studded assembly, Jay manages to top himself with the co-stars in his latest visual: Beyoncé and Blue Ivy.
“Family Feud” opens with a quote from James Baldwin: “The wretched of the earth do not decide to become extinct, they resolve, on the contrary, to multiply; life is their weapon against life, life is all that they have.” Traveling to the year 2444, “Family Feud” is a glimpse of where Hov thinks America could be headed without compassion. Directed by Ava Duvernay, the eight-minute visual is Black Mirror meets Game of Thrones and plays with the idea of a Constitution revised entirely by women. Jay’s message is clear: “Nobody wins when the family feuds.” The short film also stars Michael B. Jordan, Thandie Newton, Trevante Rhodes, Janet Mock and Omari Hardwick.
