Music videos and thermal imaging go hand-in-hand like fingerless gloves and video-game protagonists. They can be used to convey despair, distance, and, in Muse’s case, Call of Duty-inspired pwnage. For French prog-death veterans Gojira and their new video for Magma highlight “The Cell,” the monochrome unearthliness means one thing: chaos and destruction.
Footage of the band playing the inhumanly fast song is intercut with cells dividing, strands of DNA, and raging storms, making it look as if the very fabric of the world is coming undone because Gojira is just that sick and this song just slaps that hard. Watch “The Cell” video below.
