The arrival of We Are Your Friends, the hugely anticipated Zac-Efron-starring-dance-music-epic directed by one of the blokes who does that TV show CatFish, is big news right now, having just premiered in America and due to land worldwide in the next couple of weeks. If you haven’t already seen the trailer, the movie follows hopeful DJ and producer Cole Carter, in his quest to break out of the Valley and make something of himself in the world of EDM. A sort of Singing In The Rain for the Avicii generation.
We’ve been following the film’s developments with an intense curiosity, so were stunned when we received an email from an anonymous source who claimed to have a leaked script from Warner Bros. A leaked script for We Are Your Friends 2: Rave to the Grave, set 35 years in the future. The pages we were sent depict Zac Efron’s Cole Carter in his late-50s, attempting to juggle his now long-established DJ career with old age and new worlds. It makes for both harrowing and poignant reading. The excerpts are below.
