Queer activist group WERK for Peace is throwing a dance party protest at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s house tonight in Washington, D.C. They are inviting protestors to join them in demonstrating against the Senate Republicans’ new health care bill, which was penned in secret and just released to the public last Thursday.
“Mitch McConnell and his cronies of cis-hetero able-bodied white men need to know that we will not give them a pass to blatantly attack our communities,” said WERK for Peace founder Firas Nasr in a press release. “If they choose not to listen to what we have to say about our personal health and well-being, and if they choose to prioritize corporate interests, then we will show up at their doorstep to make it known that we are not ok with them targeting us.”

The protest will begin at Columbus Circle at 6 pm and parade to McConnell’s house from there with biodegradable confetti and glitter; there is an event page for it on Facebook.
Senate Republicans’ new bill threatens to defund Planned Parenthood for one year, dramatically roll back Medicaid, and give tax cuts to the rich.
In January, WERK for Peace threw a protest dance party outside Mike Pence’s house ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.
