Wireheads Get Dusty On Their New Video For ‘Arrive Alive’

There are many reasons why Wireheads’ new video for “Arrive Alive” is amazing. Produced by Alex Gordon-Smith, it was shot in a day and night in South Australia’s arid mid-north and Adelaide’s western suburbs. It begins with vocalist Dom Trimboli stepping out of a large Caterpillar earthmover and features some beautiful burnout tyre marks typical of any ‘middle of nowhere’ spot in Australia. It could just be that one line from the song has Trimboli singing (in his own inimitable drawl), “The people on the plains are pretty strange anyway”, before breaking into a tidy bit of breakdancing in the dirt.

It’s a video that seems to touch on Mad Max, Wake In Fright and Muriel’s Wedding and the Meat Puppets’ Up On the Sun.

Taken from the band’s third LP, a follow up to 2015’s Big Issues which was recorded by Calvin Johnson at Dub Narcotic Studios, the sound on the six-minute song is more developed than some of band’s earlier material. It’s still loose and dusty but has a slightly more confident approach.

One of the great things about Wireheads is that they’ve always seemed like one big friendly Adelaide gang. A gang that is growing. The new album, to be released by Brisbane label Tenth Court, includes over 20 musicians including members of Brisbane’s Bent and Sydney’s Day Ravies, as well as Bitch Prefect, Fair Maiden, Men With Chips and The High Beamers.

If you are in Adelaide over March make sure to catch Wireheads at their residency at the Metro (details below).

‘Arrive Alive’ will be available June 10 via Tenth Court.
