The Animal Hospital Treating Injured Turtles with Lifesaving Surgery

Southern Ontario is home to the highest density of roads in Canada. It’s also home to the country’s largest concentration of turtles—meaning many of them are injured by cars while struggling to cross busy streets. VICE dropped by the Ontario Turtle Conservation Center in Canada to meet up with a veterinarian who’s taken in thousands of wounded turtles and nursed them back to health—performing surgeries, patching shells, and hatching abandoned eggs to keep the turtle population afloat.
