Com Truise has been on a production tear of late, churning out his new Silicon Tare EP plus remixes for Digitalism and Midnight To Monaco within the last three months. Always the experimentalist, the LA-based producer pulls off a new first with his latest work, a remix of Deftone’s “Prayers/Triangles.”
In its original form, the metal band’s single, off their latest album Gore, runs ragged with alternate sections of calm and guitar-assisted, vocal swells of chaos. In Truise’s able hands, the track is melted down and smoothed out into an ebullient, sparkling arrangement of perky synths that take center stage over Deftones frontman Chino Moreno’s faraway refrains.

“This one was very exciting and challenging for me as I don’t remix many bands and it was my first time remixing a ‘metal’ track,” Truise tells THUMP via email. “I really had to pull the vocals away and start with a blank slate in an attempt to meld them with my sounds. It was definitely an honor to work with the Deftones raw audio tracks. Looking forward to the fans’ reactions.”
