Birthdays are high-pressure situations. On the inside, you’re grappling with the weight of aging, but outside, you’re playing host all day which means you have to look extremely thrilled when people give you gifts, even if what they’re giving you indicates how little they actually, like, GET YOU as a person. You’ve gotta go through the whole candle-blowing-out rigmarole and if you don’t look happy enough, everyone will be like, “What’s wrong? Are you not having a good time? You can’t be upset on your birthday! Have a good time on your birthday. PLEASE HAVE FUN. YOU HAVE TO HAVE FUN ON YOUR BIRTHDAY.” And to top it all off, you’re wearing some fancy birthday outfit when you’d probably just be happier sitting around in your favorite pair of jeans with the huge hole in the crotch. Diet Cig feel you, and the two-piece has found the remedy: Namely, ice cream and rockin’ guitar riffs.
Watch as The World’s Most Energetic Band™ turns a bummer birthday into a full-on ice cream bash in their video for “Barf Day” with just a few frozen treats and some minor auto theft. The song is off the band’s debut LP, Swear I’m Good at This, one of the most refreshingly fun albums of the year. Buy a copy here and check out the duo’s tireless live show as they tour with SPORTS and Ratboys at the dates below. Bring popsicles.
