On the 11th of November, the people of Warsaw celebrated Poland’s Independence Day with three separate demonstrations – one that was organised by nationalists, one by anti-fascists and one by the anti-government liberals of the Democracy Defence Committee (KOD).

Everyone was guarded by numerous police units, who spent their time hiding in the back alleys of the city in case any riots erupted. The officers’ helmets shone in the snow, as they smoked cigarettes in an attempt trying to stay warm. Since no incidents were reported, we can only presume they must have felt really, really, really bored.
