Roman Coppola’s New Film Features Bill Murray In a Cowboy Hat

ROMAN COPPOLA’S ‘INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SWAN III’

Roman Coppola, the son of Francis Ford and brother of Sofia, hasn’t made a film since his directorial debut, the sci-fi comedy CQ, in 2001. After watching this trailer, all we can say is: it’s about time he sat himself back down in that director’s chair.

After co-writing fellow filmmaking chum Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, Coppola got behind the camera to direct A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, a zany comedy with Charlie Sheen, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It’s a ’70s-set story about a guy named Charles (Charlie Sheen!) who, after being ditched by his girlfriend, recoils into his own fantasy world – which includes none other than Bill Murray dressed up like John Wayne, and Jason Schwartzman donning an impressive fro and looking like Elliott Gould back in the day. Awesome.

Directed by Matt Wolf (Wild Combination), Teenage charts the invention of the American teenager and youth culture in the USA. The film will be released next year, and it looks/sounds awesome! Take a peek yourself and let us know what you think.

A LIST OF RAPPERS IN FILMS

Anyone who watches MTV Cribs will know that all, yes all, rappers are cinephiles – or should we say, Scarface-philes? But for some rappers, kicking back while watching Al Pacino pump a load of guys full of lead just isn’t enough. We are, of course, talking about the rhyme-spitters who have ventured inside the screen to try their hand at acting.

With Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA directing and starring in The Man with the Iron Fists, we’ve got rapper-actors on the brain. Can you think of any other good ‘uns?
