A group of Mexico City DJs, known to their fans as the “Understyle Collective”, has come together to create a new sound based on reggaeton and cumbia that they called Cumbiaton. Ignored by the affluent crowd, and often criticised for the fashion and dance styles of their fans, the Cumbiaton DJs are superstars in their neighbourhoods. We like their music, and we are fascinated by their their lifestyle and sweaty parties full of adoring teenage fans. So we tagged along with the Understyle crew as they partied in Ciudad Neza.
